Low-temperature synthesis of strontium titanate particles with high specific surface area

Strontium titanate (SrTiO3) particles are expected to be applied various catalysts, and many kinds of synthesis procedures SrTiO3 with a high specific surface area have been proposed. This study investigates procedure preparing by minimizing the crystallization temperature least possible value. The prepared maintaining spherical hydrous titania smooth or porous surfaces in highly concentrated strontium hydroxide solutions at ≤120 °C. When used as raw material Sr/Ti ratio reaction solution is set 10, protrusions develop on original titania, even low (25 °C). Single-phase composed very fine crystallites obtained treatment 40 °C for 24 h. These BET 237 m2 g−1. process developed herein eco-friendly effective fabricating perovskite-type compounds area.

Platinum nanoparticles grown on SrTiO(3) nanocuboids via atomic layer deposition exhibit cube-on-cube epitaxy with the predicted Winterbottom shape, consistent with literature values of the interfacial and surface free energies. This thermodyamically stable configuration should survive the rigors of catalytic conditions to create stable, high surface area, face-selective catalysts.
